8/8/2006 - Your solution for NSIS Media.

Hi,

Concerning NSIS Media, I installed Trojan Hunter, and it found the trojan Adware.Cydoor.exe

I DID clean it, but well, it cleaned my explorer with it too...

Now I've got EXPLORER.EXE running, but without its dll, it doesn't work anymore.

Did you have a similar problem? If so, how did you solve it?

Thanks,

Fred

Dear Fred,
Explorer.dll? From the looks of this site, there shouldn't be a "explorer.dll" file anyways, TrojanHunter did it's job. Becasue I don't remember haveing that .dll either. If you have ANY more questions, concerns or comments, please feel free to email me back.

Well,

I hang a little around the net and came to the same point as you, there shouldn't be any explorer.dll file.
It seems that NSIS uses explorer.exe and its own file (explorer.dll) to run: deleting explorer.dll caused explorer.exe to become unstable. Though my explorer didn't work, I noticed that "explorer.exe" was still running. I killed the process then created a new one, and everything seems OK now.

I'll tell you if anything more turns out wrong.

Fred,
Paris, France.

9/7/2006 - NSIS Hell.

hey there: glad i am not the only soul in the world dealing with the nsis problem. well not glad others have it of course, but glad there is help out there!

ok, i read your website and dled trojan hunter, did the scan found the registry key, trojan hunter asked to clean it, so i did.

stupid question now, should i uninstall the nsis folder as well or not bother since it will reinstall during shutdown anyways?

any help would be greatly appreciated. been dealing with this thing for too long. guess i should get rid of firefox, eh?

thanks very much!

Dear David,
Yes, you should delete everything left over after you finaly got rid of NSIS Media (ie-folders reg. keys, etc.) But, sense you did delete the Trojan, it shouldn't come back now if you reboot. Please feel free to email me back if you have any more questions.

Dear David,
You're very welcome and I have no problem with you emailing me back if you have any questions, comments or concerns. And I do hope that it is gone for good. It did take some time to find out how to get rid of it. Then one day I heard that it was a Trojan in a forum. So, I ran my Anti-Virus and it didn't pick it up. So, I searched GOOGLE for "Trojan Scanner" and found TrojanHunter, and the rest is history.
